August, 2007 - The Henderson County School Board voted this month to name the HHS gym after former basketball coach Jim Pardue, who recently lost a battle with cancer. Former players and friends of the late coach, including HHS principal Bobby Wilkins, presented petitions and spoke in favor of the naming. "Many, many people loved the man, and I'm included," said Wilkins, who played and coached with Pardue in the 70's and 80's. The former players consider the tribute fitting, since Pardue earned his legendary status on the HHS basketball court, which opened in 1976.
