ROBERT ORR ('64) RUNNING FOR NC GOVERNOR
March 2007 - Former NC Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Orr ('64) is running for governor of North Carolina in 2008. Orr, who currently lives in Raleigh, received his undergraduate and law degrees from UNC Chapel Hill, with 4 years service in the Army in between.  He began his private practice in Asheville with an appointment to the NC Court of Appeals coming in 1986.  Orr was re-elected to the Appeals Court in 1988 and 1992.  In 1994, Bob was elected to the state Supreme Court and re-elected in 2002.  In 2004, Orr retired from the court to head the NC Institute for Constitutional Law, a nonprofit public interest group. Bob, a 2001 HHS Hall of Fame inductee, is married to wife Louise and the father of four children.
