SAM GASH ('87) GOES FROM JETS TO LIONS February, 2007 - Sam Gash ('87), former HHS and pro football standout, was hired this winter by the Detroit Lions as assistant special teams coach. Gash, who had a 12-year NFL playing career with the New Engalnd Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens, left the New York Jets coaching staff in February to join the Lions. Gash credits his work ethic to his HHS football coach, Phil Brintnall, and his HHS basketball coach, Bobby Wilkins. "To get to where I am today, I owe it to my coaches that I had back then," Gash said. "I was fortunate to have great players around me and great coaches." Sam, a 2001 HHS Hall of Fame inductee, and his wife Alicia have a daughter and four sons.
